Baby Sling

Research shows that babies who are touched & cuddled frequently, cry & fuss less. Such content and alert babies show enhanced learning through contact and interaction with his caregiver. Our Baby Sling promote this style of parenting. Following are some of the advantages of "wearing" your baby (from "The Baby Book" by William and Martha Sears):

It's convenient. You can breastfeed discretely in a sling while working, getting things done around the house, shopping or eating in a restaurant. If you have a baby who wants to be held all the time, this is an easy way to meet her needs while doing other things.
It helps moms care for older siblings. Carrying your baby in a sling can give you the mobility to care for your older children.

It helps some babies to breastfeed better. Some babies, particularly those who are tense or tend to arch their backs, breastfeed better while moving. Also, babies who are slow to gain weight (for no apparent reason) have been known to gain better if carried in a sling for several hours a day, since proximity to mom encourages babies to eat more frequently.

It reduces crying and colic. A 1986 study of 99 mother-infant pairs (reported in Pediatrics) showed that carrying babies at least three hours a day reduces crying and fussing 43% during the day and 51% at night. Babies are happier because they have less need to cry, and parents enjoy their babies more as a result.

It enhances learning. Carried babies have enhanced visual and auditory alertness, and increased "quiet alertness" times. Carrying a baby promotes cognitive development and speech development, since babies are exposed to more experiences and conversations.

Carried babies are involved in their parents' world. They participate in life, rather than see it as a spectator.

Carrying your baby promotes bonding and enhances parents' feelings of competence. A higher frequency of feeding and touching stimulates mothering hormones, and frequent carrying encourages and speeds the development of a mutual reading of each other's cues.

Ring Sling (NLSW Comfort Baby Sling)

This is a piece of fabric which threads through two rings, forming a loop. Some rings have padding in the shoulder and in the edges (rails) for extra comfort, others are unpadded. The sling then goes over one shoulder and is fastened by pulling the fabric through the rings. The fabric covers much of the mother’s body, so be sure to pick a colour that you will be happy to wear with most of your clothes.Ring slings are good for vertical distribution of weight, and are quick to get on and off. The ‘tail’ material can be used for discreet breastfeeding, and many parents will be able to use the same size sling (except where there is a great difference in size between parents). They can seem too bulky for some people and padded slings can be more difficult to adjust.

Rings: Baby Carriers made using metal rings tend to slip and wear through the fabric. They may rust in the long-term and the welding that holds the metal ring together may give way. Wooden or plastic craft rings, glass-like rings, and rings made of crackly-sounding plastic, while usable, may also not be 100% safe over the long-term. Do note whether the rings have any joining lines that show a low-stress point that is liable to break. Kasihku Sayangku uses only fully molded nylon rings. Such rings are durable, can withstand weight, stress and countless washings in the washing machine & dryer.

FREQUENT ASK QUESTION (FAQ)
I come across a parenting forum and one of the member share the following:

"In fact, I first bought baby carrier for my eldest daughter and suffer back pain after using it. My hand need to keep holding her neck afraid she will fall down. After we read the benefits and advantages of using Baby Sling (Ring version), we decide to give it a try for our second daughter. Now I must said, I'm loving it. I have no regret till now. Whenever I put on it when we go out especially to shopping mall, people always curios what is inside the sling and want to take a look. Sometimes I even heard they comment, 'no bad, it is a good way to carry baby'. Now my two hand is free. I can take a seat in MPH Bookstore and enjoy reading while my baby sleep comfortably in the sling.

I always heard the following comment on Baby Sling:

Baby Sling is expensive. RM 65 per sling is expensive? It depend. It depend how we view it values. I remember when I first bought baby carrier at Jaya Jusco sale, it cost me around RM 60 ++. Do you ever calculate, we spend around RM 42 per month on newspaper? Multiply by 12 months, how much we have spend on newspaper per year?

Baby sling is hard to use. I admit when I first bought Baby Sling, I also found it difficult to use but I never give out. Practice makes perfect. Can you recall your fist time try to ride on bicycle or learn to drive a car, do it found it difficult? Of course yes, but the more you practice, the more you master it, right?

My baby don't like it. From my experience, it has the same problem source with baby car seat. The earlier we train our baby to put her/him in the baby sling, in the car seat, the better, the faster he/she will adapt to it. I still can remember, when I first put my my eldest daughter in the car seat when she is 1 month+, her tears burst out immediately. But after few rounds, she start loving it. Same goes to baby sling. When we first put our second daughter in the sling when she is 2 months +, it take few days for her to get use to it. Now, whenever we put her in the sling, she tempt to go Z.z.z.z..z. very soon."
